Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) provides vital support to patients with blood cancer and blood disorders who attend the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (RD&E). Registered as a charity in 1987, today ELF is the prime patient-led support organisation for families affected by blood cancer in the South West. Over the past 35 years, ELF has helped to fund and build the current RD&E Haematology Centre, completely funded the building of a critical care unit (called the Chevithorne Family Suite) at the RD&E's Yarty Ward, and funded various research projects, NHS staff and specialist equipment. Today, we provide a range of services to lighten the load for patients and their families living with blood cancer. Our services include transport to and from appointments, counselling and financial advice following a life-changing diagnosis, accommodation for loved ones close to the hospital, complimentary refreshments and aromatherapy treatments on Yarty ward, and the provision of vital equipment to the Haematology Centre.
