The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation

Please jump for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation and help us to provide young people with the opportunities that they deserve to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) was established to honour the memory of John Thornton, a Royal Marines Officer who was tragically killed whilst serving in Afghanistan at the age of 22 years. The JTYAF raises funds for the provision of scholarships to young people from a wide array of youth organisations to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions. Since 2009, over 230,000 has been allocated to support more than 500 youngsters, and in addition to providing funding for education and training courses, equipment and tuition, young people have realised their ambitions in countries as diverse as Kenya, Nepal and Borneo, thanks to the financial assistance that the JTYAF has provided.

John had achieved an amazing amount in his short life and therefore the provision of opportunities for young people to achieve their ambitions and potential in life is a fitting legacy of which John would be immensely proud.
