DO SOMETHING AMAZING & SKYDIVE FOR CHARITY

Exeter Royal Academy For Deaf Education

Please jump for Exeter Deaf Academy to help us transform the lives of Deaf young people.

About Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education

If we asked you to imagine what it would be like to be deaf, you would probably think of all the sounds you would miss; a loved one or your favourite piece of music? But what if you've never heard? What if you've never heard a single thing? It's not about what you would miss so much but more about...

... what you have never known. And therefore the idea of two people communicating through opening and closing their mouths is almost mythical. And if you have never heard a spoken word, how do you make sense of written words? So imagine you can't read this. Imagine when people talk, you can't hear them. When you try to express yourself, no one understands and most of the time you are ignored. Imagine being faced with constant barriers and frequently failed. This is the reality for many Deaf children.
Exeter Deaf Academy is a charity that provides specialist education and care tailored to the individual needs of deaf young people and has 4 clear aims that enable deaf children to fulfil their potential: To a acquire language, develop socially and emotionally, achieve independence and excel educationally. Creating a sense of belonging to an inspiring bilingual community transforms students as they develop language skills and journey towards independence. Lives that for too long had been focused on what they cannot do start to focus on what they can.
