DO SOMETHING AMAZING & SKYDIVE FOR CHARITY

North Devon Hospice

Please jump for the North Devon Hospice because all monies from this event, plus the all-important Gift Aid, will go to supporting families throughout North Devon who are faced with the impact of a life threatening illness. North Devon Hospice helps individuals retain their independence and enable them to make informed choices about their treatment. We might not be able to put days into their life, but we can certainly put life into their days, and so do our best to improve quality of life.

About North Devon Hospice

Our primary aim has remained unchanged since our foundation: to offer the best possible care to local people and their families. All of our care is completely free of charge, and available upon GP and consultant referral to all adults regardless of background.

As well as Specialist...

... Palliative Care, we also provide Supportive Care and Complementary Therapies to patients, carers and families throughout North Devon. We believe in being there for the whole family. Everyone has unique physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs so whether in the bedded unit, Day hospice or even at home our care is for the 'whole' person, and not just their physical needs.

Whilst the majority of our patients suffer from cancer, we also care for people with end-stage heart failure, Motor Neurone disease and other neurological diseases.

The only way we are able to offer our care for free is thanks to the support of our local community. We raise the majority of funds from the work we do with local companies, gifts in wills and donations.

Our Services
Our team of health care experts offer Specialist Palliative Care to people, who have an advanced, progressive illness, need advice on pain management or other distressing symptoms or, as a result of their current illness, have emotional and/or spiritual problems.

Our team of Clinical Nurse Specialists provide advice and support to patients and families, and support and information to other health and social care professionals. Last year our CNS team made over 5200 visits to people in their homes. We are also able to offer 24 hour care in a purpose-built 7 bedded unit to help with the management of complex symptoms or in providing end of life care.

Day Hospice offers a chance for patients to come and spend the day with us for a number of different reasons. Patients come to chat and meet with others in a similar position as well as being able to talk to a nurse or have a relaxing complementary therapy. There is a well-used art room, occasional outings and always a tasty lunch, freshly prepared by our catering staff. A visit here can revitalise patients and give respite to carers and family members.

A very important part of the service we provide is the support we give patients and families through listening and counselling. Supportive Care is offered to people who are over 18 and have a life threatening illness. Adults and children who are deeply affected by a person's illness are also supported and friends or family members who are left bereaved as a result of a loved ones death.

Supportive Care includes:
One-to-one support for adults and children
Complementary therapies
Bereavement support
Self-help groups
Day Hospice

Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers we are also able to offer free transport to people who otherwise would not be able to get to and from the hospice.

In order to provide these essential services, we have to raise over £4 million every year. We are indebted to the people of North Devon who continuously support our work through kind donations of money, goods, services or time.

If you are unsure after reading Form 115A then you must seek advice from your doctor. Skydive Buzz staff cannot advise on fitness to jump. Medical concerns raised with our staff on the day of your jump will result in you being referred back to your doctor to have Form 115B signed and stamped. A rebook fee of £50 will also apply. It is your responsibility to be truthful on your medical history.
