St Luke’s have been working with Skydive UK since 2008 and they have always provided a professional and consistent service. In the past couple of years our participants have increased due to Skydive UK’s excellent website, where people can easily access our charity page and simply sign up for a skydive online.
The booking process is straightforward to use as you can either sign up online, by telephone or by post. The dedicated charity website page allows our supporters to go on there and see roughly how many people are signed up, and if they are interested they can sign up there and then on the website by simply clicking ‘book now’. It couldn’t be easier.
The best part for St Luke’s is that we have reduced costs on mailing out booking forms etc as participants can book online, and even download a sponsor form. It’s a very easy process for us. St Luke’s then receives an update from Skydive UK every Monday of who’s booked in for the day of our jump. Simple!
It used to always be a tricky situation when it came to sorting out money at the end of the ‘free charity jump’, as a lot of our fundraisers use online fundraising sites which means the money will automatically go to St Luke’s Hospice. Skydive UK have managed to solve this problem with their new ‘Raise N Jump’ site where supporters can raise money online which means the supporter can jump for free! It solves a lot of problems with other online giving sites, and the remainder of the sponsorship money is sent, by Skydive UK, straight back to St Luke’s, with all our supporters details (for gift aid) after the jump.
Another great feature Skydive UK have got is their supporter data. This allows us to log in to Skydive UK’s website and look at the fundraising progress of our supporters, which is very useful.
On the day of the jump we always have a member of St Luke’s staff there supporting and cheering our fundraisers on! When I was there last March the staff were great, very helpful, and all the fundraisers thought their tandem instructors were welcoming and a great laugh! Even the fundraisers who were terrified of heights said they would do the jump all over again if they could!
Over £65,000 has been raised over the last 4 years which is phenomenal! It’s fantastic as ALL of the administration is completed by Skydive UK which leaves us to concentrate on marketing the Skydive. There are no costs involved in holding a skydive event apart from mail outs and posters!
More importantly communication with Skydive UK is great, and problems with the website or queries with the participants get solved with one phone call to Louise.
All in all we’ve seen a huge rise in the amount of money being raised through skydive compared to a couple of years ago, and it’s a great, cost effective way for a charity to fundraise. |
